On September 9, the international sports competitions in modern pentathlon "Cup of the Strongest Athletes" - "P. Lednev Cup Final" started at the arenas of the Republican Center for Olympic Training in Athletics (Kalinovskogo St., 111). 66 strongest athletes from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkey are taking part in the tournament.On the first day of the competitions, the grand opening ceremony of the event was held, and the semifinal competitions among women took place.
Based on the results of the athletes' performances, 18 athletes (nine from each group) earned the right to advance to the final, among the finalists are ten Belarusian women: Irina Prosentsova, Vera Khodkevich, Maria Gnedchik, Natalya Savenkova and Alexandra Lyashenko (group A), Alexandra Golovachyova, Violetta Gureeva, Irina Nikolaeva, Ksenia Baranova and Ekaterina Sachivka (group B). Due to an injury, Belarusian Anastasia Oryol ended her participation in the competitions early.
Based on the results of the semifinal in group A, the top three leaders were Irina Prosentsova (Belarus), Alisa Melikhova (Russia) and Vera Khodkevich (Belarus). In group B, the best were Elizaveta Makushina (Russia), Alexandra Golovachyova (Belarus) and Maria Borshchova (Russia).
