On September 9, the International Day of Modern Five-Fight in Minsk symbolically launched the Cup of the strongest athletes - the Final of the P.Ledneva Cup for modern five-fight among men and women.The competition started on the fencing track - with the qualifying stage in fencing, where today 31 women and 35 men fought. The best result for women is Victoria Sozoana from Moscow, who won 23 times. Gomelchanka Violetta Gureeva and Moscow Yulia Borovkova with a result in 21 victory - on the second and third row of the intermediate table. In the men’s 27 wins won Vladislav Netsterov from Minsk, second result of Maxim Maruc (Minsk region) -24 victories, Russian Andrei Zuev and Maxim Kuznetsov - with 23 wins on the third and fourth positions of the intermediate table.
The opening of the tournament took place at Stadium BPFK. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Andreichik, Chairman of the Belarusian Federation of Contemporary Pentathletics Mikhail Prokopenko, honorary member of the Federation Nikolay Ivanchenko, executive director of the Federation Olga Karpovich, director of the SGA "Belsporto Care" Roman Markovsky.
Deputy Minister Oleg Andreevich addressed the competition participants with a welcoming speech.
"Today, the strongest athletes from three countries gathered on Belarusian soil. In this final start of the coming season I wish you to show your best conditions, implement coaching ideas and show how much work and perseverance is invested in each minute of preparation. This day is not just a competition, it is a celebration of strength of spirit, skill and the desire to win. I wish you good luck, inspiration and unforgettable moments along the way", - said Deputy Minister.
The competition between the strongest athletes in pentathlon will continue tomorrow with a semi-final for women in 5 and disciplines in groups A and B, and men will play their way to the final on Thursday, August 11.
