Today, the second stage of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup kicked off in the Bulgarian city of Pazardzhik, with Belarusian athletes among the participants. The first day of competition featured women's qualification rounds, following which two Belarusian women earned the opportunity to compete in the semifinal of the stage.
Maria Gnedchik qualified for the next round from Group A, scoring 1422 points. Her most successful discipline today was fencing (4th place in the discipline standings).
Anastasia Malashenoka advanced to the semifinal from Qualification Group C with 1424 points, recording her best result today in swimming (6th place in the discipline standings).
On May 14, the men will compete for semifinal berths, with the following athletes taking part in the qualification groups: Vladislav Nesterov and Maxim Deychik – Group A; Vladislav Zhartun and Vladislav Melkozerov – Group B; Vladislav Ostrovsky and Maxim Fedotko – Group C; Evgeny Orel and Vladislav Berezovik – Group D. The semifinals will take place on May 15–16, and the stage medals will be contested on Sunday, May 17.
