The Belarusians started four seconds earlier than the Germans. Katsiaryna Arol gave chance to Annika Schleu and lost position. The Germans overtook the leading Alise Fakhrutdinova (Russia) due to the fast running and the good shooting. Athletes from Germany and Russia went to second shooting range almost together.

Katsiaryna Arol passed the baton being third faster then athletes of Hungary and Great Britain. The struggle for gold was till the final steps of the distance, where more experienced athlete from Germany Lena Schöneborn was faster then Anna Buriak.

Tatsiana Khaldoba maintained the third position by finishing in 25 seconds later then the winner. After the award ceremony Tatsiana confessed that participating in the competition in her Motherland was a high responsibility. According to the athlete a good venue with all needed conditions created was offered for the team’s preparation.  It helped the team to show deserving results.

“I performed with Katsiaryna Arol for the first time, but we had known and supported each other for a long time, suggesting something to one another. So everything worked out well.

Despite her unsuccessful shooting, on account of which there was pressure on the part of competitresses felt, I managed the shooting and it only remained for me to run. The fencing turned out very unfortunately, we thought that we would win it, but something went wrong. After that we let the second thoughts go and performed well”, - noted Tatsiana.

Katsiaryna Arol confirmed that the team fell short of points in the fencing. According to the Belarusian it happened because of the immoderate desire to win the discipline and to make the start for a more comfortable performance.

“Originally we aimed to reach the podium because we perform in our country. When I saw the results of the first three events I was sure that we would be in the top three. But at the start of the laser-run commenced a fuss and I toed the starting line unorganized. The shooting didn’t work out either, it really is not my strong suit, but I will try to improve myself. As for a partner, Tatsiana is a very good one when you work in a team and you make a mistake, as I did today in shooting, your partner can correct it. And nevertheless I miss Iryna Prasiantsova with whom we worked in a duo. I didn’t think that this competition would be left behind for her because of her injury, but she will be prepared for the world championships”, - summarized Katsiaryna Arol.

Therefore, the first day of the championships brought the first medal to the Belarusian duo, a bronze one in a Women's relay. The gold medal belongs to the Germans and the Russians won a silver one.

July, 19 the tournament will be continued with the Men's relay. Mikalai Hayanouski  and Alexander Poupe will perform for the Belarusian team.
